FAQ

What is Fantasy Matters?
Fantasy Matters is a website that is dedicated to talking about any and all matters related to fantasy and other forms of speculative fiction and media, with the underlying assumption that these works are fun, interesting, and important.  Editors will post some content each weekday, but a significant part of the website is our forums, where you, our readers, can contribute to the conversation.  Read our welcome post here.

Who is behind this website?
This website is an extension of a conference held at the University of Minnesota in 2007, which was organized by Lindsay Craig, Kathleen Howard, and Jennifer Miller.   Adam Miller is the site’s webmaster, and we feature articles from a large and growing group of scholars, authors, and fans of fantasy literature.

Can I write for Fantasy Matters?/I have an idea for a super-sweet article I’d like you to feature…
If you have a book/movie/video game that you’d like us to review, or if you have an idea for an article that you’d like us to write about, let us know—we’ll see if it’s a good fit for the site, and if it is, we’ll assign it to one of our writers.  If you would like to be a front-page contributor to the site, the best way to make that happen is to post regular, thoughtful, well-written posts on the forums.  We will be paying attention to forum contributors, and contacting those who we think would fit in well with our current group of writers.

How do I contact Fantasy Matters?

What are the forum guidelines?

Do you sell T-shirts with your logo?
Not yet, but we like the idea!  Let us know if you’d buy one, and if there’s enough interest, we’ll set something up!

What fantasy literature should I be reading?
We will feature several book reviews on the main page each week, which are tagged “Reviews,” and some of our personal favorites appear as Amazon links along the right hand side of the site.  You should also check out the forums to see what our other users are excited about, and then make suggestions of your own!

I saw an interesting post on the site.  Can I repost it on my own site?
All posts that initially appear on the front page are licensed under the Attribution-NonCommerical-NoDerivs Creative Commons License (CC BY-NC-ND).  In other words, you are welcome to reuse our posts as long as you credit us and the specific author of the posts, do not alter the posts in any way, and do not use them for commercial gain.  For more information about Creative Commons licenses, please click here.

How can I support your site?
